KVIC to open 20 plazas to promote Khadi in India
The Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is considering setting up of new Khadi plazas, and modernizing the existing Khadi outlets. The Commission proposes to set up 20 Khadi plazas in the country with an outlay of around Rs. 500 million. KVIC would provide financial assistance of Rs. 25 million to each of the 20 plazas to be set up in different cities of the country like Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Kolkata. Besides, KVIC even proposes to set up two such plazas outside the country on a trial basis. Presently though the countries for opening overseas plazas have not been finalized, KVIC has indicated that these might come up in Europe. The new plazas, KVIC said, would resemble the present day malls which are targeted at attracting the young crowd of the country.
